The sandwich is a simple promise, and Wichita, bless its wheat-soaked heart, takes that promise very seriously. You can drive from the Artichoke’s cozy Number 8 to a gut-busting breakfast burrito at Great Harvest without ever leaving the grid, which is exactly the kind of absurd pilgrimage we respect.

Between the hot honeyed pimento chicken at Nortons and a world-famous chicken salad at Greater Grounds, the local bread game is frankly showing off. We ate through the whole damn city so you don’t have to.

Here’s where to get your fix.

Artichoke Sandwichbar is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever eat anywhere else. The famous Number 8 is pure perfection—crisp, salty, and balanced in a way that feels almost criminal.
